The iconic Chanel Designer: Karl Lagerfeld
Wednesday, 20 February 2019
The fashion industry was hit with a huge loss yesterday when it was announced that Karl Lagerfeld had sadly passed away at the age of 85.
Karl was one of the industries favourite icons, he was known for being outspoken and to have the occasional controversial opinion but he was adored by so many! The likes of Victoria Beckham, Kylie Jenner and Cara Delevingne took to social media on Tuesday to express their sadness at the loss of the icon.
Karl has achieved so much throughout his career within the fashion industry working with huge designers such as Balmain where he was an assistant for Pierre Balmain before he became the artistic director for Jean Patou and then went on to designing freelance for a few different brands including Chloe and Valentino.
In 1967 Karl was then hired by Fendi where he was hired to modernise their fur line but what he is best known for is his triumph career at Chanel, which began back in the 1980s. Where he ‘bought Chanel back to life’ after the deal of designer Coco Chanel.
In his honour, we look back at some of his best moments and quotes.
