About
Our Story
Born out of Knightsbridge in 2013.
Here at Designer Exchange our journey started with a simple goal, to make designer fashion more accessible to all, not just the few.
Our warm and welcoming atmosphere is for everyone, no matter who you are or where you live, and no matter if you are buying, selling or simply browsing.
Over the years, we have grown and evolved to become the go-to destination for preloved luxury fashion. We have expanded our offerings to include a wide range of womenswear and menswear clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories, all carefully curated and authenticated by our team of in-house experts.
What sets us apart is our commitment to providing a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience for our customers. Whether you are buying or selling, we offer a range of convenient and flexible options to suit your needs whether you are visiting in-store or shopping online.
Whether it’s your hobby, hyphen or hustle, we’re passionate about growing the preloved community.
Authenticity is at the heart of everything we do
We offer preloved fashion customers peace of mind by combining the best technology with a human touch. We are proud to provide our sellers with a seamless way to sell their luxury items safely and securely and to give buyers reassurance of buying authentic designer goods.
A key part of our experience is Designer Exchanges’ Double Lock Authentication. We use market-leading AI software, which reviews each item against an extensive database to keep ahead of super fakes combined with our team of market leading authenticators who determine the trueness and value of each item based on their years of experience.
Delivering on our promise to provide the authentic experience, our pieces will hold an Authentication card giving peace of mind through the buying and selling exchange. With a 99% accuracy that items are genuine, we are confident to offer immediate payment to sellers and a ‘money back’ guarantee to buyers.
The Authentication card includes the unique product code, tracking it back to its origin from point of buy, to its authentication journey and finally to its point of sale. Each item will soon be sold with an Authentication card to guarantee authenticity of each item purchased at Designer Exchange.
Charity
Back Up: We loaned outfits for their annual Front Row Fashion Show event, where we also donated a preloved luxury bag for auction. Back Up is a UK charity dedicated to supporting people affected by spinal cord injuries, helping them get the most out of life. The evening raised a huge £110,000, which will help rebuild many lives.
Smart Works: We donated a number of our pieces to SmartWorks - a UK charity that provides high quality interview clothes and training to unemployed women in need. It's inspiring to see our pieces being worn by women getting back into work.
Help4Ukraine: We donated one of our Prada handbags for auction to Help4Ukraine - a volunteer support group that helps deliver ambulances, medical aid and equipment to Ukraine. The ambulances, filled with medical equipment and provisions, are then driven by volunteers beyond the Ukraine border and handed over to their partners, who ensure the equipment gets to the hospitals.
Oxfam's Secondhand September promotes shopping preloved items for a month. It encourages donating, reusing, and rewearing clothes. We hosted a Clothes Swap event at our head office, where staff exchanged their clothes for others' preloved items. This helped avoid fast fashion purchases. Leftover items and some luxury goods from our stock were donated to Oxfam.
