At Copenhagen Fashion Week FW25, we couldn’t help but notice the sea of all-black outfits dominating the runway and the streets. It was a bit of a shock, especially when you consider the city’s usual colourful and eclectic style. Black has often been the uniform of those who prefer minimalism, but this year, it felt like a statement; timeless, sleek, and undeniably chic. We're certainly not hating on all black dressing. The flawless execution of monochrome ensembles made them perfectly ready to be snapped for any high-fashion magazine. It’s proof that sometimes, less really is more.

Another prominent trend at Copenhagen AW25 Fashion Week was headwear, which was seen everywhere, from pillbox hats and fur cloche hats to trapper hats, snoods, and scarves. Given the frosty Copenhagen days, it wasn’t surprising to see nearly everyone embracing this trend. But it’s not just about warmth; these hats are all about making a statement. It’s clear this trend is set to be huge for the upcoming Fall/Winter season, and we’re here for it. A well-chosen piece of headwear can completely transform a look, instantly elevating an outfit while adding a touch of personality.

We predicted it before, and now it’s set in stone: plaid and checks are never going anywhere. Adding so much personality to any look, it’s a total winner. We spotted countless fashion insiders wearing plaid in all sorts of ways; from skirts and trousers to oversized coats and lightweight jackets. And of course, argyle knits continue to reign as a firm favourite, offering that perfect blend of preppy charm with a vibrant twist. We love this pattern, it always achieves a super layered look when styled correctly. Mix and match your checks and go all out for an ultra-fun outfit!

Big, extravagant fur and shearling coats were everywhere, and honestly, they’re the ultimate way to create an amazing outfit with just one statement piece. it's a feeling of luxury draping yourself in a lavish coat like that; it instantly elevates any look. Of course, we'd always opt for faux fur because that’s who we are and what we stand by, it’s also the perfect way to make a bold statement without compromising on style or ethics. Fur coats are the kind of piece that make you feel like you could be strutting straight off a runway, even if you’re just heading to brunch!

Where to Eat

We’re completely surprised we didn’t roll back from Copenhagen having morphed into Danish pastries ourselves! When they say the breakfast and pastries are good, they certainly weren’t lying. We made sure to squeeze in a coffee and pastry at every coffee shop we could find. Our first pit stop at Sonny's Copenhagen set the bar high for the week, with their traditional open sandwich breakfast topped with creamy avocado sauce—absolute perfection. The first sip of coffee in Denmark, after a 4am start, did not disappoint. The pastries at andersen & maillard exceeded our expectations and were by far our favourite stop for baked goods. We selected four items to share between three of us, including the viral pistachio croissant cube. Yes, we went for it, and it was totally worth it. After meeting with a business partner from our creative agency, who is based in Copenhagen, we were introduced to a traditional Fastelavnsboller, a beloved sweet bun in Denmark and Norway, which is traditionally eaten before the start of Lent. Dating back to the 1600s, these buns are part of the 'let's eat all the nice foods' tradition. During this January holiday, both adults and children dress up and celebrate with brilliant food.

For breakfast, we didn’t have to search far for a classic Scandi-style start—Comté cheese, rye bread, a soft-boiled egg, and, best of all, whipped butter. It definitely does the trick for that much-needed morning fashion week fuel. We think Atlier September was the best place for this comforting combo. We also visited Studio X Kitchen, where the whipped eggs, with a spicy kick of nduja, were the perfect way to set us off for the day. Both spots were a true testament to how the Danish do breakfast—simple, flavourful, and utterly satisfying.

Pastry

Dining out in Copenhagen certainly didn’t let us down. If you’re after classic wine bar small plates, we highly recommend Bottega Barlie in the Frederiksstaden region—don’t hold back on ordering the truffle brie toast, it’s an absolute must! Out of all the fantastic little Italian spots, we opted for Fabro, a cosy restaurant with a brilliant vibe, started by a group of young Scandinavian men. With their no-bookings policy, we wrote our name on the chalkboard waitlist and didn’t have to wait long before being seated. We suggest ordering all the pasta dishes and sharing the lot—it’s the best way to experience it all. The Aperol on tap was a nice touch for three Aperol spritz lovers like us. We were truly blown away by our final night’s dining experience at Delphine’s. We ordered the Greek sharing menu, and by the end of the meal, we were struggling not to unbutton our designer wear by the end of this fantastic meal with fantastic service.

Now, you might think we hadn’t yet dipped our toes into true Scandinavian culture yet, but trust us, we most certainly did. We had lunch at Skindbuksen, a local spot with what seemed to ve a combination of a pub, resturant, night-club serving traditional Smørrebrød, which are open sandwiches with toppings like pickled herring, roast beef, liver pâté, cheese, and spreads. All garnished with fresh dill, horseradish cream, and pickled gherkins. You best believe we tried them all! To top it off traditionally, we had a shot of schnapps with the meal. To put it lightly, this small but mighty shot does not taste like the sweet peach schnapps we know back home in England, it packs a real punch!

Our Copenhagen Style

We incorporated AW25 trends into our outfits, opting for cloche hats, faux fur, and an all-black look. We also carried a Miu Miu Arcadie, a Bottega Veneta Tote, and a Gucci asymmetric horsebit bag, all from Designer Exchange. Our two Gucci jackets we brought along certainly stole the spotlight. The faux fur and denim embellished Gucci x Palace jacket turned heads wherever we went, while the double-G Gucci vest attracted just as much attention. For accessories, we draped Burberry scarves over our heads in true Scandi style and wore silk Fendi scarves around our necks and through our belt loops.
