London Fashion Week Trends | February 2020
Sunday, 02 February 2020
There is nothing like #LFW to make you throw open your wardrobe and exclaim that you have nothing to wear! Showcasing the creme de la creme of classic pieces to new and bold creations, London Fashion Week is the one place you want to be styled so you'll both fit in - yet stand out.
The main expected trend of LFW this year is a retro 70's throwback featuring classic styles reminiscent of the late hippy and early disco era. Bright & bold colours will be the leading colour palette for this season with royal blues, hot pinks, sunlight yellows, grass greens and earthy browns. Below are the top trends to be featured at this February's Fashion Week meaning you can dress to impress all weekend.
Waistcoats
A huge feature at this year's Fashion Week is a throwback to the 70's including waistcoats inspired by Kate Moss' personal style. Waistcoats were popular at the peak of disco for both men and women in 1977 - 1979 and can be worn on their own or as part of a 3-piece suit as demonstrated by John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.

Featuring:
Denim
Depending on your age, denim might make you think of the early 90's however it was popularised into modern fashion in the 1970's. Double denim, triple denim and all the denim accessories you can imagine will feature in this year's LFW. Showcase your inner cowgirl this year.

Featuring:
A Polo Combo
As the trend continues to borrow from the 1970's, a key feature this year will be the specific look of shirts and tops worn over a polo neck which was inspired and infamised by Lacoste in the 70's. Below are our 2 favourite tops which can be styled alongside a poloneck for that upper class AW look.
Short Suits & Oversized Blazers
European and practical, we're expecting to see short suits at this year's London Fashion Week. Falling just below the knee the short suit can be paired with sneakers in the day or a pair of heels in the evening. The oversized blazer remains a fashion staple and will likely be seen alongside shorts (once the weather improves!) and the classic 'jeans and a nice tee'.
Bohemian Dresses
There's never been a better time to buy your wedding dress on the high street and with the floaty, hippy dresses we're expecting to see this year it seems the designer world knows this too. Using fabrics such as sheer and lace with delicate techniques such as crochet, one of the newest trends will be the bohemian floaty dress.
Cut Out
Cut out pieces showing a section of the body will feature heavily this year. The look is both daring and modern allowing the diva in all of us to show off the specific curves we want to.
Oversized Trench
Completing the OOTD, Fashion Week will feature oversized trench coats such as the classic Burberry Trench which is both heritage-chic and ultra-modern. Trench coats have long been a staple part of British fashion and will feature heavily this London Fashion Week.
