A New Year means new trends! Whether you’re a fashion mogul or someone whose new year resolution is to up their style game, here’s some trends that you’ll see coming your way in 2024.

Preppy

It’s giving Gossip Girl! The old money style combined with the modernity of the US frat boy aesthetic will be a look hitting wardrobes in 2024. This preppy style featured in a vast number of Spring 2024 collections including: Gucci, Loewe and Dries Van Noten. However, the one that garnered the most attention was none other than Miu Miu; they perfectly captured that put-together style with a slight beachy edge. Polo shirts with popped collars, layering jumpers and blazers paired with baggy shorts and loafers is looking to be the look of the year, and not just in the Upper East Side. XoXo - The Preppy Edit

XL Bags

In 2023 small bags were for sure the go to thanks to the Jacquemus Le Chiquito Mini Leather Tote, but in 2024 they’re being left behind and we’re making a move towards bags that can carry anything and everything. We can expect to see bags that are more unstructured and much larger, a shift towards a more practical and effortless look. We will see these slouchy totes become an everyday essential and perhaps the new ‘IT’ bag for travelling. These jumbo bags were a common theme in Spring 2024 collections, making a feature in Stella McCartney, Bottega Veneta, Victoria Beckham and many more!

Romantic Fashion

The less structured style will not just be limited to bags, but have been making an appearance in apparel too with the revival of ‘Romantic Fashion’. The hyper-feminine style featured in: Moschino, Victoria Beckham and Carolina Herrera to name a few, and it’s one that we’re looking forward to seeing more of. From lace and satin to flowy silhouettes this trend prediction embodies femininity and has an ethereal feel. Hand in hand with this trend are the colours of the season! We can expect to see plenty of spring colours like apricot and lilac feeding into the hyper-feminine element of ‘Romantic Fashion’.

Elevated Basics

Basics never go out of style but there has definitely been a great deal of focus on them in Spring 2024 collections. Similarly to the XL bags, there is a lean towards practicality in the fashion world, finding clothing that's fashionable while also being functional. There’s a bias towards the quiet luxury aesthetic, maintaining a simplistic style while still looking chic. Brands like Gucci are ditching the big logos and obvious branding, and dipping into luxurious everyday basics that are simple but far from boring.
